Outcome reports
Sharing is off until you turn it on, in onboarding or in Settings → Data. With sharing on, the app sends one report per paste with:
- Which app the paste went to, which rewrite ran, and how long it took.
- Whether you kept, edited, undid, or replaced the result, and how many words changed.
- Which picker rows were offered and which one you chose.
- That a paste was reported as wrong, and which app it was in.
- Crashes and handled failures: the name of the failure and the part of the app it came from. Not the message, and not what you were working on.
Turning sharing off stops the next report. It cannot recall reports already sent.
Never sent
- Clipboard text, HTML, attachments, or snippets of any of them.
- Pasted text. Words are counted on your Mac; only counts leave it.
- Window titles, page addresses, or document names.
- Your name, your email, or your Mac's name. Reports carry the same account id your sign-in uses.
Rewrites
A rewrite runs on our backend, so a rewrite request carries the copied text and the words you spoke, if any. The backend keeps the request so it can answer, and so we can look into a rewrite you report as wrong. Sharing does not change this: a rewrite you ask for is always sent; an outcome report is sent only with sharing on.
Kept on your Mac
The paste journal records each paste so the app can count them and show your recent activity. With sharing on, the app also keeps a redacted copy of each paste and its outcome in a file on your Mac. Neither file is sent. Settings → General shows where the journal is.
Billing
Stripe holds your card, your invoices, and your subscription. Copy Pasta opens the Stripe portal and stores none of it.
Deleting your data
Email hello@hokialabs.comfrom the address on your account. We delete the account, the outcome reports keyed to it, and the rewrite requests it made.
